What does critical illness cover?
When you buy a life insurance policy from Beagle Street, you can add critical illness cover which pays out a lump sum if you were diagnosed with a serious condition such as cancer, heart attack, stroke or any of our other 18 listed conditions.
This money can be used to support you and your family whilst you recover, and it gives you the flexibility to spend your payout on whatever you need. For example, the payment can be used to cover medical or care costs, make adaptations to your home, or address any other expenses.
A critical illness claim would have no impact on your life insurance and your family will still receive the full cover amount if you were to pass away.
The list of conditions covered by Beagle Street’s critical illness cover are:
Alzheimer’s disease | before age 65, resulting in permanent symptoms |
Aorta graft surgery | for disease or trauma |
Benign brain tumour | Resulting in permanent symptoms |
Blindness | Permanent and irreversible |
Cancer | Excluding less advanced cases |
Coma | Resulting in permanent symptoms |
Coronary artery bypass grafts | with surgery |
Deafness | Permanent and irreversible |
Heart attack | Of specified severity |
Heart valve replacement or repair | with surgery |
Kidney failure | requiring regular dialysis |
Loss of hands or feet | Permanent physical severance |
Loss of speech | Permanent and irreversible |
Major organ transplant | |
Motor neurone disease | Resulting in permanent symptoms |
Multiple sclerosis | with current symptoms |
Paralysis of limbs | Total and irreversible |
Parkinson’s disease | Resulting in permanent symptoms |
Stroke | of specified severity |
Third degree burns | Covering either 20% of the surface area of the face or body |
Traumatic head injury | Resulting in permanent symptoms |
These conditions also apply to child critical illness cover if you decide to add this onto your life insurance policy. See Policy Terms & Conditions.
It’s worth noting that if you claim on a full critical illness condition your cover will end and you’ll no longer be covered for critical illness cover.
For existing customers, please refer to your individual T&Cs in your policy documents which will specify the conditions you are covered for.
