Life Insurance with Critical Illness cover

What is a critical illness?

A critical illness is a condition with potentially life-changing consequences in both the short and long term. With our Critical Illness cover in place, a claim can be made upon diagnosis of one of our covered critical illnesses. The pay-out can be claimed by the policyholder so it can be used to help you and your loved ones right away.

Our Critical Illness cover acts as additional protection so this can only be added with Life Insurance; and not bought as a separate type of cover.

Why you might need this cover?

You can set the value of Critical Illness cover that’s right for you, providing extra security just in case you need it. If you were to become critically ill you may find your costs increase for medical appointments, equipment, lifestyle changes or even a carer. A lump sum pay-out could help cover these additional expenses.

You can spend the lump sum pay-out however you like, whether you want to spend it on medical care, keeping your family free of debt or even a holiday of a lifetime, the choice is completely up to you.

The cost of looking after your children could increase if you had to pay for: medical appointments, medical equipment for your home, a carer, or any lifestyle changes that need to be made; such as taking unpaid leave from work to care for your children. By adding Child Critical Illness cover to your existing Critical Illness policy, you can rest easy in the knowledge that your entire family is financially protected should the worst happen.

FAQs

If I get diagnosed with an illness in the future, do I need to tell you and will my premiums change?

No. Unlike car insurance you don’t need to tell us if anything changes. So long as you told the truth at the time you took out the policy, whatever happens afterwards has no impact on your policy and your premiums remain the same.

Types of Critical Illness cover – additional and combined

There are two types of critical illness policies in the market, although we only offer additional critical illness cover.

Additional Critical Illness cover

Available directly through Beagle Street, this acts separately to your life cover, providing more flexibility. The risk is separated, meaning if you claim your Critical Illness then your Life Insurance policy is still in place. We give you a breakdown of your premiums and cover amounts for both your Life Insurance and Critical Illness cover. This gives you control over how much cover you need, ranging from 10% – 100% of your Life Insurance value.

Combined Critical Illness cover

Not available directly through Beagle Street, this cover links your life cover and Critical Illness policy, meaning there is only one pay-out. You can only make one claim, so if a claim is made upon diagnosis of critical illness then your entire Critical Illness and Life Insurance policy will cease; a claim can therefore be made in either instance of death or diagnosis of a critical illness.
