Fund-raising for Breast Cancer

October marks the fall of autumn leaves, as well as the screams of Halloween but in more recent years, has become renowned for painting the streets pink with a huge effort to raise Breast Cancer awareness. According to the ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Month’ organisers, Breast Cancer Care, every year nearly 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK, equivalent to one person every 10 minutes1 .

Campaigns of all kinds across the UK raise funds for Breast Cancer Research in October, and some are nothing short of party material! Here are some of our favourites.

Think Pink

Grab some cupcakes, pick out your favourite chick flick and get the (pink) manicure at the ready – this year, Breast Cancer Care are encouraging all the ladies to kick back and enjoy a girly pink night in. Get together and donate what you’d usually spend on a night out to the cause. Pink by no means should be confined to your home. Invade your office with Pink Fridays, complete with a cake sale and pink clothing in a bid to raise funds We’re sure there are plenty of us out there who’d happily pay to see our male co-workers turn up to the office in head-to-toe pink!

Strut your Stuff

The worlds of fashion and charity come together this month to celebrate the courage of women. The London show has come and gone, but an equally fantastic show will be taking place in Glasgow with breast cancer survivors strutting their stuff on the runway Get together for a great cause and get a sneak peak at the latest designer looks!

Pink Burlesque Workshop

Want to learn how to bend it like Dita Von Teese? Britain’s Got Talent star Fabia Cerra will teach you all the tricks of the art of Burlesque in her exclusive workshop events in Oxford. Bring your dancing shoes and flaunt your moves!

Fright Hike!

For the sporty ones and not the faint hearted: grab your walking boots and pink tutus. Set off through one legendary UK ghost infested forest for a 30Km hike. Fright Hikes! are taking place in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and Sherwood Forest. You can join individually or as a group, both hikes take place on 25th October.
