Motherhood is widely considered to be one of life’s biggest challenges – so how do celebrities make things appear so effortless and glamorous? They cheat, of course!

While many choose to keep shtum on the matter, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, who has two children with Hollywood superstar Will Smith, admits superstars are in fact masters at concealing their struggles.

From a full-time nanny to nutritionists and stylists, most have a team of experts on hand to help them. She says: “All mums struggle. While motherhood is a beautiful thing, it’s traumatic to the body and the mind. I thought I would never recover, even though I had a lot of help.”

Here’s 13 ways they make it look so simple…

1. Teams of nannies

Behind many celebrity families there is a well organised and savvy team of people pulling the strings. Employing a nanny isn’t exactly a secret, but many celebs don’t settle at one, often choosing to have one to look after each child. Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and their six children are rarely seen out with any help but a book claims they have 25 staff, including multiple live-in nannies, medical staff and bodyguards.

While the Duchess of Cambridge appears to only have one nanny, she definitely has one of the best around. Spaniard Maria Borrallo is a recruit from the world-famous Norland College in Bath. Not only are Norland College nannies experts in changing nappies, they also know how to create healthy meals, develop maths skills while also being trained in self-defence.

Megan Fox also told the world she had hired a specialist night nanny so she could get a night’s sleep.

2. Personal trainers

Most celebrities seem to slip effortlessly back into shape after pregnancy, as if by magic. Heidi Klum was back on the catwalk in a corset five weeks after giving birth, while Miranda Kerr was modelling bikinis three months after delivery of her 10lb son Flynn.

Many celebrities get paid to look a certain way and are fortunate to have the money to hire the very best in the business. Uma Thurman shed 50lb with the help of her Kill Bill martial arts trainer, while Victoria Beckham turned to celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson, who has also helped Gwyneth Paltrow.

3. Personal assistants

Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone to organise EVERY aspect of your life? Well most celebs generally do these days. Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez all manage to coordinate their multiple ventures with exercise classes and beauty treatments thanks to folk behind-the-scenes.

4. Private chefs and nutritionists

Yep, you’ve got it, that’s another chore off the list. Gwyneth Paltrow has previously turned to a private chef for assistance in the kitchen to help with her strict macrobiotic diet. Supermodel Gisele Bundchen and Beyonce are also lucky enough to have help preparing meals, no doubt jam-packed with brain and body-busting superfoods.

Jennifer Lopez, Denise Richards and Uma Thurman have also used pricey but healthy food delivery services to ensure they eat right and drop the pounds.

Fast food fan Kim Kardashian West doesn’t trust herself to eat well so regularly seeks advice from a nutritionist to help her out.

Halle Berry also sought help and reportedly followed the 5-factor plan, which involved eating five meals a day, each containing no more than five ingredients, for five weeks to help her get her amazing body back after the birth of daughter Nahla.

5. Private plastic surgery

She’s never admitted it but there are rumours Angelina Jolie had a tummy – or should we say a ‘Mummy’ tuck after giving birth to her twins Knox and Vivienne in 2008. Mariah Carey and Britney Spears are also rumoured to have had surgery to give them a helping hand in regaining their figures after having their children.

Imagine having your wardrobe automatically replenished season after season. While many new mums struggle to even get out of their PJs, wealthy A-listers hire specialists to ensure they look the part – especially on that first outing with their little one. Kim Kardashian West even has a stylist for her daughter North!

7. Beauticians on speed-dial

The Duchess of Cambridge emerged looking radiant and with a glossy bouncy barnet just hours after the birth of Princess Charlotte last year after being spruced up by her team. This isn’t unusual in celeb world, and many stars have a crew of people waiting at their beck and call ready with the best cosmetics.
8. A girdle!

Waist training is a big deal in Hollywood. Stunning actress Jessica Alba revealed she wore a double corset to help regain her figure after daughters Honor and Haven were born. “It was brutal; it’s not for everyone. It was sweaty, but worth it.”

Reality star Kourtney Kardashian also designed a Belly Bandit girdle which is said to help slim the stomach, waist and hips and help reduce stretch marks.

9. Scientology detox?

It was reported Tom Cruise’s ex Katie Holmes helped lose the pounds after the birth of daughter Suri by taking part in a hush hush Church of Scientology Purification Rundown detox. The intense regime included lots of exercise, lengthy sauna sessions and cider vinegar supplements to cleanse the body of toxins.

11. 3D lipo

Yes this is a thing. Coleen Rooney is a big fan of exercise but reportedly turned to this non-invasive treatment after the birth of second son Klay in 2013 for an extra helping hand. The procedure is said to freeze fat cells beneath the skin and provide a smoother look.

12. Photoshop

Kim Kardashian makes another entry on the list thanks to the image she projects on social media with her amazing pictures. But while most folk play around with filters selfie queen Kim is believed to even turn to Photoshop.

13. By lying!

Yes, many star mums may project a perfect image on social media and in interviews but it’s very probable they have off days too!
